FAQs

Here are some quick answers. If you don't see your question, send a message and we'll talk it through.

Why are you called PeckedByBirds?

Our name is a reference to the Greek myth of Prometheus. According to the myth, Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man as a gift. The gods didn't appreciate this, and Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him to a rock, where his regenerating liver was pecked out by an eagle each day. Pretty metal, huh?

While we don't work with fire or theft, we aim to follow in the footsteps of Prometheus by providing cutting-edge, hand-crafted websites (our "fire") to your customers.

How much do you charge?

Fees vary depending on size (how much content and how many pages), complexity (custom technology, integrations, animations), and timeline (two weeks vs two months).

A basic website that displays largely static information typically costs under $500. Websites with user authentication and custom data input can be over $1000, depending on requirements.

Best next step: use the contact form so we can quote something representative of your scope.

How quickly can you build my website?

We can turn projects around as quickly as 2 weeks (rush builds), which typically comes with additional cost. Most projects land in the 1-2 month range depending on complexity and feedback cycles.

Can you deploy my website?

Yes. All customers get access to a staging version of their website (username + password) during development. Once the final product is ready, we provide complete source code and deployment instructions for common platforms.

For an additional fee, we can deploy your site onto the platform of your choice.

Can you host my website?

Yes! We can fully manage hosting starting at $20/mo (plus domain charges, usually $1-5/mo). More complicated sites with additional storage or traffic needs may cost more.

If hosting is interesting, reach out and we'll propose an option that fits your needs.

Can you build my website with <insert technology here>?

We can certainly try. We prefer choosing the stack that's most efficient for your requirements, but we're adaptable and can transfer our experience to new tools when it's the right fit.
